we also expect the Spirit to work genuine transformation in people’s lives now. As a result, counselors live with a tension. On the one hand, God always has more for those we counsel. On the other hand, our role in a particular trial may be complete even when there is a long way to go. Because we counsel in this tension, we can easily press for too much, endlessly prolonging the process.
